Happy St. Patrick’s Day

The axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire … He who is coming after me is mightier than I … His winnowing folk is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clear His threshing floor; and He will gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Mt 3: 10, 11, 12

These are the words of John the Baptist just before he baptizes Jesus.  He is speaking to the Pharisees and Sadducees.  His words are plain and powerful.

He is calling out those who led the Jewish people.  Prior to these words, he called them a “brood of vipers.”  He makes the point that a day of reckoning is coming and they will be held accountable.

Perhaps, Believers have become in need of the very same message today.

Have we simply made peace with the majority?  The ruling elite?

Having been given life in America, have we taken care of our gift?  Have we produced good fruit?  Cared for what we were given?

Placed in a nation that was to be, unlike any other, a Light to the world, have we retreated, created disorder outside our borders and within?

And if we have, have you let others destroy what you were given and are responsible to sustain and protect?

When one surveys the political landscape it prompts me to ask: Is it time for Believers to form up and stand as those who Believe – distinct from the familiar faces, secular culture, mass media and defined Party lines?

Is our salvation and the protection of this land to to be left to others?

Absent our concerted effort to the contrary, will we forfeit salvation and lose this Holy Nation?  Deprive our children and grandchildren of God?

Will we and our children’s children be thrown into the fire?

‘Tis best to place faith at the center of life and culture.

Have we not had enough of faithless leaders, acts, programs and policies – faithless educators, commentators, universities, judges, Presidents and legislators?
