The sweetness of truth is eternal.

St. Augustine

In the Gospel of John (Chapter 1, Verses 19-28) John the Baptist is set upon by priests and Levites from Jerusalem to explain who he is and why he is baptizing others.

The Baptist calmly explains he is ” … the voice of one crying out in the desert, Make straight the way of the Lord.”  He professes that Jesus is soon to come, one who is greater than him.

Just a simple and clear stance!

What is your stance?  When culture assaults what is good, are you as John the Baptist? When all attention turns to what is mortal and the material, what is your fundamental point of reference?  Is it Christ?

When modern liberalism makes faith unwelcome, do you respond like the Baptist? When the courts and government pursue a form of social nihilism, what do you do or say?

“The sweetness of truth is eternal.”  Is this your mantra?  Your foundation?  The truth of Christ foremost for you?  If not, is it really any wonder we are surrounded by chaos.

“Make straight the way of the Lord.”

Shalom.
