As a mountain is unshaken by the wind, so the heart of a wise person is unmoved by all the changes on this earth.

The friend turns away.  So, too, the prodigal son.  People and things do not stay in place.  Life is dynamic, yet the wise heart is unmoved.  It is a constant.  It retains its nature.  Like the mountain, it stands in all seasons, endures witness to all who run about, all the frantic ones, the mistaken, the forgetful, the ones who journey hither and yon.

The mountain’s heart is wise and sure.  It gives space to the sky, the clouds, the wind and rain, the river below and all the noise the world creates.

We would be wise to learn from the mountain.
