… when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret … In praying, to not be like the pagans, who think they will be heard because of their many words.  Do not be like them.  Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Mt 6: 6,7,8

Anne Frank hid from the Nazis in an attic.  She kept a journal.  You might call it a prayer book.  St. Thomas More prayed in his jail cell.  Dietrich Bonhoeffer, too.  St. Paul, the same.  Countless others throughout the centuries.  This the case of men and women from different cultures, different languages, different expressions of faith – throughout time.

Recess.  Go to a quiet space.  Be alone.  Few words.

The silence of inner space, a place to which one goes to be alone.  There is, in a busy world, no rest without your inner room.  No sanity.  No intimacy without the inner room.

Close the door.  Use few words.  Let time disappear.  Listen.

Ideal people can stand alone without fear and leave society without distress.
